Visual Artist | Italy Salvatore Cammilleri was born in Palermo on 17 April 1973. He lives and works in Rome. His art is characterized by his multifaceted nature, which distinguishes his research through a variety of artistic languages, the use of symbolism, diverse techniques, and the selection and manipulation of materials. He expresses himself through all forms of contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, plastic modeling, digital art, installations, performance, video art, and audio art, as well as through combinations of these forms. Each of these languages is, in turn, explored through different techniques. Through his symbolic imagery, he expresses a philosophical vision rooted in existentialism. With his spheres, he explores the act of birth and creation through the energy of elements that enter into symbiosis. With his wings, he investigates the course of human life, highlighting the act of “not flying,” that is, the human being’s inability to express a genuine will to power. Through his eggs, he explores human transience by reversing the meaning of a symbol traditionally associated with life in iconography. The unifying element of this exploration is a neo-pop style characterized by a bitter irony. Another defining feature of his artistic research, consistently present throughout his career, is the use of light, which he employs and shapes as a material in its own right. He founded the cultural association ignorarte, whose manifesto he authored. As its artistic director, he organizes various contemporary art events. Among his most significant personal projects are Mistic...O... at Farm Cultural Park in Favara (Agrigento); Monumento ad un caduto at MAAM – Museo dell’Altro e dell’Altrove Metropoliz in Rome; Hovo Sapiens at the Museo del Presente in Rende (Cosenza); Superproteic...O... at the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome; and Osmosi at the Botanical Garden Museum in Rome. He has held numerous solo exhibitions, participated in group exhibitions, and taken part in art festivals. His works are part of private and public collections, including those of institutions and art museums, and have been featured in art catalogues. |
