He was born in Palermo in 1966. He attended a four-year course of advertising illustration at the European Institute of Design (IED) of Rome. After a short time spent in Vipiteno drawing covers for famous notebooks Pigna, in 1990, returned to Rome began to devote himself to painting. From 1995 his work has been exhibited in Italy, Britain and the United States. Painting Pucci has earned, over the years, the attention of artistic personality such as the critical Philippe Daverio, Gianluca Marziani, Vittorio Sgarbi and American art dealer Larry Gagosian. Nicola Pucci boasts a masterful technique with which he constructs his images layered with dozens of brush strokes and shadows. With a priceless care of details, he reworks his paintings several times over the years, until they are faithful to his vision of reality.
For Pucci, careful observation results in a new interpretation of reality where the impossible and possible merged. He combines elements from sources different in a single painting. His paintings represent homogeneous groups of figures, often suspended in space, but united in a silent dialogue, a particular gesture that speaks for itself. In Pucci works it is described dreamlike atmospheres, theatrical and disturbing, cathartic energy clearly perceptible to our senses.
Pucci draws on various influences, including Surrealism and the art of Francis Bacon, reworking still in a personal way these trends and movements.
