Biography

Michele Darmiento was born in Bari, Italy on 02/10/1986. From an early age he had a great talent for drawing, and he copied some paintings in pencil that fascinated him.

In 2001 he moved to Parma, Italy to study painting, decoration, sculpture and script at the Paolo Toschi Art School and in 2006 he graduated. He studied classical painting which included the techniques used in the 16th, 17th and 20th centuries by copying paintings by Caravaggio, Tiziano  and Rubens above all. During his studies he attained an important internship as an assistant set designer at the Teatro Regio in Parma, Italy designing sets under the guidance of other masters. He later is commissioned to paint several canvases with a sacred theme for two churches in Puglia, Italy and one in Parma, Italy.

As a self-taught man he began to approach the world of hyper-realistic painting, fascinated by the technical and chromatic perfection of some works by Luigi Benedicenti.

His curiosity towards this style of painting pushed him to study colors in a maniacal way and with the passing of the years he has greatly improved his painting technique, in fact his paintings are very finely detailed and three-dimensional.

He always tries to make his works transmit unconscious states. He wants to make it clear that before painting He reflects deeply within himself and with everything around him. He wants his works to cause emotions and wonderment to those who observe his paintings.

In 2011 he exhibited his first works in the Netherlands at an art gallery and also participated in group exhibitions in the Netherlands. In 2012 he exhibited some still-life works at several art galleries in Modena, Italy. Some of the galleries held private exhibitions and some were open to the public.

Between 2012 and 2018 he works on commission on several paintings, which are purchased by collectors in America, Russia, Italy. In 2019 he exhibits works at an art gallery in Alzano Lombardo. In 2020 his biography and his works are reviewed in the Atlas of Contemporary Art published by Deagostini.

In 2021 He began studying the human body and has expanded his expertise to include human portraits. One of his portraits was selected by the Meam Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona for publication in the Catalog created in collaboration with the Galerié Artelibre in Zaragoza.

His goal is to put on canvas his inner visions and make them alive through the impeccable and precise technique in his works. He creates art that goes above and beyond cold photography and gives the observer an astonishment and wonder like no other. His ability to dig into his mind and bring out true beauty is truly remarkable and unsurpassed.
